Welcome to the second part of this series. I am so happy you are here. In case you haven’t read the first one, I highly recommend you read it using this link Part 1 before continuing here. In this article, we will take the topic of ‘Afraid’ a bit further and see why your success is highly dependent on this. So without much further ado, let’s dive straight in.
From the theme, Mark 4:35-41, Jesus and his disciples had an assignment. However, as they embarked on their journey, a huge storm arose and tried to stop them. The disciples acted in fear but Jesus acted in confidence, power, and authority.
The basic things that have stopped many Christians from being who they have to be are FEAR and IGNORANCE. Period. That’s it. We’re done.
Gotcha!! Just kidding. We actually just beginning. To understand this topic, let’s understand what fear really is.
What is Fear?
Simply put, fear is a tool the devil uses to stop you from being you and doing what you have to do. The thing is, every single person on earth was born with a mission – “…so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” You were born to reign as a King in this world and ensure that righteousness(God’s will) prevails on the earth.
When many people hear this, they only think of praying, fasting, going to church, and reading their bible. Yes, that’s good. I don’t dispute it. But it doesn’t stop there. Reigning is not just about spiritual things. The physical is equally involved. We are supposed to reign in everywhere, in the fashion world, sports world, media industry, and any place that is influenceable, you are supposed to infiltrate as far as it is part of your purpose.
Many Christians deceive themselves by thinking that having money, owning cars, going into fashion, and all those things are for the world. Well if God didn’t say so, why think that? Our spiritual life is meant to help us get instruction from God, build our spirit, and increase in glory, power, and authority. We then have to use what we have gotten from our time with God and live a lasting impact on the earth.

The devil knows this and will throw his best shot at you to stop you. And just for the record, you’re the worst thing that happened to the devil. He hates you because of what God has placed in you. He knows you are special and powerful so he will try to make you feel otherwise. But the thing is, he actually can’t hurt you. He doesn’t have any power over you. He operates by deceiving you to bring yourself down through manipulation like fear, self-doubt, regret, depression, etc.
Fear is a mind game and once you understand who you are and what God has said about you, you’ll see how you’ll fly over it all. And that brings us to the next part – IGNORANCE.
What is Ignorance?
Imagine a little boy who is always being bullied at school. It gets to a time when the thought of going to school becomes a terror for him. Let’s say that a top wrestler like John Cena tells him that he would go with him everywhere and protect. As far as the boy knows and trust in John Cena’s ability there will be a new spark of confidence in him because he knows John Cena can protect him. However, if he doesn’t trust John Cena, it will be as though John Cena never came.
In the same way, God has not just given us a mission, he has said that He will partner with us to accomplish it. Wherever we go, he is there so there is no need to fear. A possible thought might be, ‘I have understood and trusted God’s power and ability all my life but it has done me no good.’ Brother, sister don’t blame God blame yourself. There is a difference between understanding God and understanding God. Many people are fast to blame God when they haven’t done what He said they should. How can I become a Top Bodybuilder without exercising consistently and having a proper diet? There’s a process so until you have diligently followed through, you have no right to blame God.
So once you are convicted of this truth, you will notice the confidence and boldness you will walk in because God is with you.
Why we can’t give into fear?
Christianity can be compared to someone being employed for a job. The employee has to give in to their best to ensure they make their employer happy, get promoted, and of course, don’t get sacked. Just like that employee, we have been given a mission to do by God. One that we must put in our best effort to live as we are supposed to. But unlike a regular employer, God is doing the work with us. So, actually, there is no reason for you to fear or fail.
God created you. You did not come to this earth on your own. God created you and brought you here. So it will be foolishness to think you own your life or think you can do whatever you want with it. Just because God isn’t always responding to the disobedience of men doesn’t mean He doesn’t see it. A word is enough for the wise.
God reigns over all and no one can defile His authority. Let this be you confidence. Be convicted by this and see you life change. It’s a very simple and straight forward principle. That’s why many people miss it.
Summary
Just as I said earlier, Christianity does not encompass only the spiritual but the physical as well. We are to go out confidently into the world and let that God’s glory shine through you. Don’t compromise for any reason what so ever. If someone tries to threaten you or harm comes your way, remember this, I am loved by God, I am His child, I am found in Him, and thus I am protected beyond imagination.
