Hello friends! Today we’re going to be looking at a topic that raises a lot of questions in our hearts as Christians, attacked. Very often, we hear Christians say stuff like, “I’ve been attacked spiritually” and a lot more that has to do with getting attacked. But what exactly does it mean to be attacked?
Understanding the Nature of Attacks
To be attacked basically means to get harmed by something, or someone normally through violence. We must know that every Child of God would be attacked one way or another, so it would be great to be ready for it whenever it comes. So we need to understand that we would inevitably be attacked.
Life’s attacks come in various forms – physical, emotional, spiritual, and even mental. In the Bible, we find stories of individuals who faced unimaginable trials, yet emerged victorious through their faith in God. Joseph, Job, and Apostle Paul are just a few examples of those who endured attacks but ultimately triumphed. Even our Lord Jesus Christ was attacked.
The Armor of God
As believers, we are equipped with a divine armor that enables us to withstand the attacks of the enemy. Ephesians 6:10-18 reminds us to put on the full armor of God, including the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit; the word of God. This armor is not merely symbolic but provides real and tangible protection against life’s attacks.
The Power of Prayer and Fasting:
In times of attack, prayer becomes our lifeline to God. The word of God reminds us to present our requests to God with thanksgiving, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Prayer is not a last resort; it is our first response in the face of adversity. Fasting is also important, because some attacks can only be dealt with through fasting as seen in the bible.
Some things to understand about attacks.
- It comes when you are pleasing God; the devil doesn’t like it when we please God so he tries to attack us and bring us down.
- It comes when the devil feels like you are weak.
- It comes at the beginning of something good.
- A lot of other Christians are also going through it, so you’re not alone.
Conclusion:
Life’s attacks are inevitable, but as followers of Christ, we have the assurance that we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us (Romans 8:37). Let us face the challenges before us with resilience, putting on the armor of God, and fervently seeking His guidance through prayer, not forgetting to embark on fasting.
May our faith be unwavering, and may we emerge from every attack stronger, more rooted in our faith, and glorifying God in all circumstances in Jesus’ name. Amen.
