Hello friends. Today, we’re going to reflect on a powerful and universal emotion that has the potential to shape our lives in intense ways – fear. What even is fear? You might ask…. Well, fear is a natural and instinctive response to the unknown, the uncertain, and the challenges that life often presents, it is a somewhat restless feeling. However, as people of faith, we are called to confront our fears and find strength, courage, and peace in our journey just as Jesus did in Mark 4:35 to 41.
I. Understanding Fear
Fear is a complex emotion that manifests in various forms – fear of failure, fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, and so on. In the Bible, we find numerous instances where individuals gripped by fear. From the trembling Israelites at the Red Sea to the disciples in the tempest-tossed boat, fear is a frequent theme. It’s essential for us to acknowledge and understand our fears before we can overcome them.
II. The Source of Fear; where does fear come from?
Fear often comes from a lack of control or understanding. When we feel helpless or face uncertainty, fear can take root in our hearts. It’s crucial to identify the source of our fears and recognize that God is greater than any challenge we may encounter. As Hebrews 13: 6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
III. Overcoming Fear through Faith
Faith is the antidote to fear. As we cultivate a deep and abiding trust in God, we can face our fears with confidence. The Bible encourages us in Hebrews 13:5. Our faith empowers us to walk through the valleys of fear, knowing that we are not alone. When Jesus and His disciples were faced with the raging storm in the boat, the disciples were afraid because they lacked faith.
IV. Courage in the Face of Fear
Courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to move forward in spite of it. In the bible, we see ordinary people doing extraordinary things when they choose courage over fear. Consider the story of David facing Goliath or Esther approaching the king on behalf of her people. These examples inspire us to confront our fears head-on, trusting that God goes before us.
Conclusion:
As we navigate the journey of life, fear will inevitably cross our paths. Now, imagine there’s a huge wall in front of you, there are so many ways to deal with this wall right. You could climb over it if possible, you could go around it as well or use another route, but the best option you could choose is to break it down. This is how I see fear, and then I say to myself, ”This wall must come down”. May we find the courage to face our fears, trusting that God is with us every step of the way.
Let us not relent in our daily walk with God and let fear not take over. Also, remember, the word of God, has the answers to all your doubts problems. Amen.
