Islam. Christianity. Many other religions. And the subject matter of a man called Jesus.
They all believe He’s a prophet. Or that He’s one of the greatest messengers of God ever to exist on Earth. But when it comes to one thing – the point of Him being God, all fall away and only Christians remain strong in believing.
In this article, we look at different factors that form the foundations of why Christians (believers) stand firmly with Jesus Christ… Factors that sum up to be the proof that Jesus is God.
Who is Jesus Christ?
For the sake of this article, we will base our discussions from the standpoints of two religions (known to the world) that have explicitly mentioned Jesus Christ and his history in their records.
Those of the Islam believe that Jesus is a great prophet… one of the greatest messengers of God. According to their belief, He came on assignment from God. Some acknowledge that He was sinless.
According to the Christian faith, Jesus born to a couple called Mary and Joseph by the supernatural doing of the Holy Spirit. His birth was shall we say “supernaturally natural”. He was born to Joseph but He was not of Joseph’s seed. Simply put – He was the Son of God.
The world and mankind was enslaved by sin and the consequences that it brings… For the wages of sin is death (scripture here). Jesus came to pay for our guilt and receive our judgment for sinning. He did this by dying on the cross and thus bringing us salvation with His resurrection.
To find out more about the story of Jesus and His works as He traversed the Earth – I suggest you read through the Gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tell the same story from the point of view of 4 men who witnessed first-hand the marvelous unveiling of the salvation of mankind through the sacrifice of Jesus who is the Christ.
This is where there is a divide –
The Islamic faith does not believe:
- That Jesus is the Son of God
- That Jesus died on the Cross
But Christians believe. And this is why.
Spiritual things are truly spiritual.
Why is Jesus God?
To understand this, we have to know some of what forms the dynamics of God. If we can identify the characteristics of an entity, we can tell if another entity is of the same family tree.
The Scriptures called Jesus God. Why is this true?
1. Only God has the power to save.
Nobody can save another person no matter how holy they are. The human brain is not a factor when it comes to salvation. If you put your hope in man, you are finished… yourself inclusive.
This is because the Bible says that the wages of sin is death.
“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (scripture here)
We are all dead and so there’s no man that can save himself nor can he save another. Can the dead raise the dead? Can the blind lead the blind? NO! And so the only way salvation can come to the human race is for another being to come to the human race from another realm who is not part of the guilt of men.
What happened in salvation is that God had to send a messenger to save man. He sent Jesus.
Jesus is God because he has the power to save.
2. Only God is without weakness
Man is subject to sin… God is not. Jesus went through all temptations possible and still came out blameless. When He walked on Earth, He was in all things blameless… sinless.
Jesus is God because He has no weaknesses… In other words, He is blameless and not guilty of sin.
3. Only God can come back to life
Only God can come back to life. Jesus died and rose again through power and the spirit of holiness. No man can do this. No man dies and rises from the dead on his own ability.
Jesus died so that He can pay for our guilt and receive our judgment… and also to take the keys of death and thus enslaving it… and also to take back the residual Adamic power that Satan took.
Throughout history, any incident recorded of someone coming back to life shows something interesting. All those individuals was revived not out of their own ability or choice. They were raised to life by another individual – whether through physical or spiritual means.
Jesus is God because He needed no man to bring Him back from the dead.
John 8:56-58
How Does this Kingdom of God Manifest?
Jesus modeled a life that death couldn’t conquer. When you receive Him, in you resides the power over sickness, death and its counterparts. You have received His life. And thus you have received the ability to execute His authority.
“Whatever you do, in thought or in deed, do it in the name of Jesus” (scripture here)
In the name of Jesus means I come in His place or in His stead to represent Him. and thus circumstances gives way to us. Because we are the representation of Christ to our world.
We are participating in His Kingdom with full rights, not as strangers. God did not adopt us… He gave us the life of Christ.
In the Kingdom, we are not there as unqualified people enjoying God’s mercy… Rather we participate in the Kingdom as a right. Everything God has now is our inheritance, we don’t beg for it.
John 1:12
Colossians 1:12
Romans 8:17
The idea behind the divinity of Christ is to show you the power He has to do what He has done… and to show you who you have become by the authority of God.
Jesus is the I AM. He is the Son of God… He is Divine. JESUS IS GOD.
